A candidate's visit  is an important opportunity for the department to communicate three messages

1. You are seriously interested in the candidate's research and scholarly contributions

2. The department and UVA are an excellent places to come because they are intellectually lively, collaborative  and committed to diversity.

3. Charlottesville is a good place to live.
