Search committee meetings should be held early in the process to develop a position description, develop and implement an effective recruitment plan, and discuss and establish criteria for evaluating candidates.

 

To minimize conflict and increase the productivity of search committee meetings,  the committee  should establish processes, ground rules and evaluation criteria before any candidate’s materials are reviewed.

 

 The issues of diversity, research on differential evaluation and accumulation of disadvantage should be discussed in the first meeting.
