Each committee member is expected to be active and involved in all aspects of the search.  In particular, each member is expected to :

  • Understand the potential for unconscious or implicit bias and take action to ensure equity in your decision-making.

  • Take the Provost’s tutorial to provide search committee members with training about unconscious bias and best practices.

  • Provide input on developing recruitment strategies and evaluation criteria,

  • Use formal and informal networks to identify potential candidates, and proactively recruit potential candidates, especially women,

  • Review all candidate files using the same criteria as formulated and agreed upon by the committee.
