The goal  of the recruitment stage is to expand the pool of potential candidates.  Filtering comes later in the search process. 

 

  • The committee should develop plans for actively recruiting women prior to beginning the search and aggressively identify potential candidates and include them in the pool.

  • One goal of the search should be to ensure that there are outstanding women in your pool of candidates. 

  • Think broadly and creatively about recruiting candidates. 

  • The typical route of placing an ad and waiting for applications is no longer sufficient.  In this competitive hiring market, some of the best candidates may not see your ad or may not see themselves as a fit to your advertised position without some encouragement.
